Integrative Medicine and Dentistry Using On-Site Vitamin C IV Therapy

For the last two decades, Dr. Vladimir Gashinsky and the Holistic Dental Center of New Jersey have focused on integrative and biological therapies.

Partnering with medical providers, the Holistic Dental Center of New Jersey offers patients specific IV therapies and infusions for dental procedures, such as oral surgery and safe removal of silver-mercury amalgam fillings. Let’s look first at Vitamin C therapy and its benefits.

Guaranteed vitamin absorption

Some medications and medical issues can interrupt your body’s ability to properly absorb the nutrients it needs to function correctly. If you have this problem, you’ve very likely been taking a variety of vitamins—likely to no long-term benefit.  With IV therapy, the vitamins are completely and quickly absorbed into your bloodstream, which allows your body to utilize them immediately.

Immediate results

Did you know it can take up to two days to completely digest the foods you eat? With IV therapy, you can begin to feel the positive effects on your body almost instantly. Within several hours, you can feel the full effects of the IV nutrients, as you’ll have more energy, think more clearly, and enjoy an improved mood.

Fights the effects of environmental toxins

We are exposed to toxins in every part of our environment too! We breathe, drink, eat and bathe and expose ourselves to environmental toxins.  IV therapy supports your body with the antioxidants it needs to help your body flush harmful toxins out of your body more effectively.
Now let’s look at how IV Therapy works during mercury/amalgam removal and oral surgeries.

IV Therapy using Vitamin C During Mercury Amalgam Removal

Mercury is a powerful oxidant and the use of IV Vitamin C during mercury amalgam removal can be very beneficial.  Safe mercury amalgam removal is performed at the Holistic Dental Center following the SMART protocol and for an additional level of protection, we offer the ability to have a Vitamin C Infusion during treatment.  Since Vitamin C  is a potent antioxidant, it can assist in preventing any free-radical formation in addition to boosting the immune system. We’ll go into further detail on the SMART protocol in an upcoming blog.

WHY IV Infusions for Oral Surgeries

For many individuals, oral surgery is a feared experience – whether it be the surgical procedure or the process of post-operative healing. Because these types of surgeries involve deeper bone structures, our team of biological wellness professionals offers patients an infusion to optimize recovery and healing. In Dr. Gashinsky’s office, an experienced RN will insert the IV line and Dr. Cohen then administers the specific infusion.

Over the course of treatment, an infusion is administered intravenously the day prior, during the dental surgery, and for two days following the procedure. The IV infusion is a combination of Vitamin C, anti-inflammatory vitamins,  B12, D, and E.  All have demonstrated anti-inflammatory properties, aiding in both recovery and wound healing.

In addition, IV antibiotics are used. Unlike oral antibiotics, the IV antibiotics bypass the gut avoiding disruption and damage to the gut flora keeping it healthy, and reducing a need for supplemental probiotics.

While IV antibiotics are administered directly into the bloodstream, the combination of vitamins—particularly Vitamin C is inherently utilized by the body to make more connective tissue, thus naturally boosting healing and recovery time.
