CariVu – The Revolutionary Caries Detection Device

Our practice is now using DEXIS CariVu™ , a compact, portable device that detects caries and uses patented transillumination technology to support the identification of lesions (damaged areas) and cracks in your teeth.

A Brilliant New Approach to Discovering Caries and Cracks

This easy-to-use diagnostic tool makes the detection of any lesions, caries and cracks – no matter how tiny – possible, and so allows our doctors to prevent these problems from getting worse by repairing the damages early on.

CariVu is an alternative diagnostic method to X-rays and is a very comfortable solution for our patients.

Our Safe and Thorough Approach to Protect Your Teeth!

DEXIS CariVu™ is the no radiation solution for detecting caries and cracks and displaying images in easy-to-read black and white. Using near-infrared transillumination technology, Dr. G can see into a tooth like never before, and is a non-invasive alternative to X-rays when difficult or simply unneeded.

As a portable caries detection, CariVu detects a range of lesions and cracks by \”bathing\” the tooth in safe, near-infrared light. On the resulting images, enamel appears transparent while porous lesions absorb the light; caries appear as dark areas and cracks become visible. This unique caries detector allows the clinician to see through the tooth exposing its structure and the actual structure of any lesions with very high accuracy.

In many cases, CariVu reveals caries before it is apparent on radiographs which allows our doctors to respond early to any problems that may develop in your teeth.

What You See is What is There

A Brilliant New Approach to Discovering Caries and Cracks

Clearly seeing the size and shape of a lesion allows our doctors to diagnose and repair your teeth early and fast.

“With this exact technology, we cannot miss the tiniest cracks, lesions or even beginning caries in our patients’ teeth, which gives us the chance to make a 100% correct diagnosis and give our patient better and faster treatment.” – Dr. Vladimir Gashinsky
